The script machine and the screen objects, in C++

The first piece of the port is a C++ script machine that reads the game’s scripts straight from the extracted disc and runs the real boot. Checked against the reference interpreter, every printed line is identical over more than 40 million instructions.

On top of it sits the screen-object model: textures, tweens, text, characters and event pictures. With the same inputs, the frames at the title opening, the title, the menu, name entry and the action map are identical to the reference model’s, pixel for pixel.
